New NEWS!

So Guess what?

We were accepted to Interview at 3 more schools!

Southern California! Houston Texas! and New York New York!!

Yay!

So the plan is I, Brad, shall trek over to Cali and Houston and do the interviews there all by my lonesome. I shall come home with news and great descriptions.

And Amy says she totally wants to see New York and so ya know... I've been thinking that there's nothing more romantic then climbing 300 flights of stairs in the Statue of Liberty so it's a date then!

oh and one more piece of big news! We were officially accepted into Memphis's Mississippi School! Yay! I'm officially gonna be a doctor in 5 years no matter what else happens in the next interviews Hooray!

Mississippi Memphis!

So we snuck out of our apartment with the baby sleeping in his crib, little did he know that he'd spend the next 3 days being Grandmamatized!!
We hopped on the plane feeling so carefree without a baby and with half the luggage! YIPEE! We flew into Jackson Mississippi and discovered that there was no shuttle to the Walmart where our rental car awaited. Oops! my bad, but it turned out ok. They said that they have someone traveling to that walmart going to pick up a rental car for the airport and that we could hitch a ride with them.
So we walked out to the street and waited for some mysterious ride. Soon enough this big van pulled up and this 75 year old woman rolls down her window sayin' "yall goin ta Waalmart?"
It was so funny! She had the most Southan Accent I've ever heard. It was plain near hard to understand the words comin out of her mouth. But she was nice and told us all 'bout how she now a great great grandmother and then she certainly turned a bit fierce with the bad drivers that wouldn't let her into the lane she wanted. Anyways, I felt like I was on the "Welcome to Mississippi official tour."
We got to walmart, rented a car and bought a cable so that we could listen to our ipod music for the next 3 hours as we traveled to Tennessee. Of course, seeing as where we were, we listened to lots of country music.

The drive was very beautiful. Trees trees, all pine trees everywhere. Forest forest forest, and more forest. Seriously the trees were so thick you couldn't walk through em! Trees trees trees everywhere! All green and pretty!

It turns out that Memphis is a town where if you white, you better watch your butt else it'll get blown off. We were careful enough to stay outta trouble. Soon as we got there we went to Corky's BBQ and enjoyed some fine fattening foods, and then we went back to the hotel to watch some Ghostbusters on TV and guess what? No baby! Amy actually got some sleep. Yay!

The next morning we did the interview. The college was this white 11 story building in the middle of a dirty-old, old looking town. It looked ok enough on the inside, kinda like some of the crappy buildings at the University of Utah type feel. One thing that I really was impressed with was how these students here are encouraged to have part time jobs! WHAT? They actually had time for work? Most other Optometry schools work their students so hard that they have no time for food much less a part time job. So the lazy part of me cheered, "Yes! this is the easy school!" And I decided I would like to go there.

That night we had dinner and dessert with this cute couple across the border 15 minutes south back in Mississippi. We talked for hours about everything and found out how affordable housing is. Mortgages are 830 a month and 2-3 bedroom apartments run around 650-750 a month. This made living there seem so much more possible then Florida. The picture above is a house that we may someday live in!

The next day we went back to the airport and Amy turned on the camera to see the pics we'd taken and guess what? There was pictures of this baby.... "OH YEAH, WE FORGOT ABOUT HIM!!" We pretty much googled over his pictures and videos there in the airport and started missing him. When we finally did arrive home we were surprised to see that Isaac's face had gained probably 2 inches!

Florida

So guess what? We went to Ft. Lauderdale Florida! We got there, rented this Chevy Impala from a slimsy dude, and drove straight to the hotel. Isaac liked it there cause he got his own bed. We had a tasty breakfast kinda of McDonald's quality provided by the Hotel and then we went off to the school. To our surprise we got lost! Nova University is so huge and every building looks just as beautiful as the Optometry building I saw in the pictures! Eventually we got oriented and Amy dropped me off to look for a parking spot. She ended up dealing with a grump Isaac who wanted food and a nap. I went up to a get to know you room with pizza and decided to be the funny one who made my group a little less tense. For some reason I didn't feel a need to be nervous like the rest. I'm like 3 years older then most of them, and this interview was like the biggest moment of their entire lives, for me, I've had a marriage and a baby, so I've had bigger moments.
Anyways. It was super humid out there and it even rained a bunch so when we finally had the tour Amy came with Mr. Fatso Isaac baby and man, he was tuff to carry around! Soon he got grumpy and needed more food, and so Amy took him even though she was ready to kill over from exhaustion.
The school was beautiful, plain and simple and I decided I would love to go there.
That evening we drove south heading for Key West but since the sun went down we stopped in KEY LARGO for some yummy Cuban food and turned around to go back home! Amy hated the restaurant cause it was all in Spanish and there were ants in the corner.
The biggest regret of this trip was that we never were shown much housing options. They only showed us on campus stuff and off campus stuff nearby where there exists "no pets or babies" in the rulebook.
Isaac didn't get his naps, he was too hot, so he wasn't happy, and Amy got tired out of hauling him around and soon his screams just drove her into madness until she decidedly told me, "Brad, we ain't takin him to our next trip."

Cute little Isaac video

I couldn't help myself but post a video of Isaac, cause he's just too gosh darn cute. He's taken to blowing bubbles lately, and he gets spit everywhere, but it's fun to watch! Don't mind the junk scattered all around him- we were in the process of unpacking from our trip :)

Optometry School here we come!

We have officially been accepted for 3 interviews so far. The first of which, we are leaving for tomorrow! Tomorrow morning we are going on a plane ride to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Brad will do his interview on Tuesday, then we'll fly home on Wednesday. Thursday we'll take off again, this time heading to Memphis, Tennessee! Flights to Memphis are twice as expensive then flying to Jackson Mississippi, so we will fly to Jackson then drive for 3 hours. Brad's 3rd interview will be in Houston, Texas in October. We have yet to hear news from New York, So. Cal, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. This is all so exciting! It'll be interesting to see where we end up living for 4 years. It'll also be interesting to see how Isaac handles all these crazy plane rides. I'll have to bring lots of toys to entertain him!

On another note...

So I'm just going to do a quick post about Isaac, mostly for myself so I can remember it in the future. On Monday was Isaac's 4 month check-up and vaccinations. He weighed in at a whopping 15 pounds even, 25 1/2 inches. He's getting big so fast! All off of mommy's milk :)

When it was time for the shots, my heart just ached for my little boy, he didn't know what was coming to him. I sat him in my lap, and the doctor pulled out the big mean needles. As she proceeded to prick him in his thighs, his screams could have shattered glass. Poor poor little boy. The rest of the day I had a not so happy Isaac. A few hours later he felt really warm, so I took his temperature and he was up to 100 degrees! So he got to taste some baby tylenol, which he thought tasted pretty weird. So thats the doctor story!

Brad took this pic of Isaac a couple weeks ago, playing with his PB & J. No, he's not really eating it, but he still looks pretty darn cute. And he did enjoy squishing it in his fingers :)

So maybe I'll start blogging again....

I started this blog a year ago now, and yup, I have one stupid post. :) So I guess I didn't really blog to begin with. When I started this blog a year ago, I think I got a bit sidetracked by puking in the toilet day in and day out, and laying in bed completely useless. Now that I have my body back, and a healthy 4 month old to show for all the craziness, there may be things to write about other then "I puked again today" :) So we'll see how much Isaac lets me put time into this!

I'm also very new to this, and don't know how everything works yet. Hopefully I can figure it all out soon!
